In many communities today, people hear a lot of promises,
especially during political periods. But over time, people have learned to pay
more attention to actions than words.
This was seen when Hon.
Odunze Kingsley Chinonyerem, in collaboration with Nnoye’s Foundation,
supported a free medical outreach for women in the community. Instead of asking
people to travel far, the programme was taken to where the women usually meet, making
it easier for them to take part.
During the outreach, women
received basic medical checks such as malaria tests, blood pressure checks, and
blood sugar tests. For many of them, it was an opportunity they had not had in
a long time, mainly because of the cost and stress involved in going to the
hospital.
The outreach focused on a
real need. Health is something many families struggle with, and when help comes
this close, it makes a difference. It also shows that someone understands what
the people are going through.
Those who know Hon. Odunze
say this is how he relates with the community. He stays close, listens, and
does what he can when the need arises.
As he prepares to run for
the Imo State House of Assembly to represent Mbaitoli under APGA, people are
looking at what he has already done. Many believe that if given the
opportunity, he will continue in the same way and do even more.
In the end, people remember
actions. And in Mbaitoli, moments like this are not easily forgotten.
Hon. Odunze Kingsley Chinonyerem
