Season One Nightengale Awards Ceremony at Chapel of Peace
Hall, Mbaitoli Council, Imo State.
The story of Nightengale Awards began with 37 participants
who took part in the Season One Nightengale Literary Awards Live Writing
Competition on 22 November 2025 at Imperial Boarding School, Ubomiri, Imo
State. The theme of the competition was ‘Sustainability.’
The competition was organised and hosted by Nightengale
Awards to encourage young writers and give them an opportunity to show their
writing skills. Imperial Boarding School provided the venue for the event.
Founded by Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu, Nightengale Awards began with a focus on literature. The first season marked the beginning of the organisation's work to encourage talent and recognise people for their achievements.
A total of 37 participants from different schools took
part in the competition. Through their writing, they shared their ideas and
expressed their understanding of sustainability. The theme encouraged them to
think about how people can protect the environment, use resources wisely and
make choices that support the future.
After the competition, Nightengale Awards held its first awards ceremony on 28 February 2026 at Chapel of Peace Hall, Mbaitoli Council, Imo State. The winners received cash prizes and other awards, while all 37 participants received certificates of participation.

The first competition remains an important part of the
history of Nightengale Awards. It brought together young people who were
willing to express themselves through writing and gave them an opportunity to
be recognised for their efforts.
The theme, Sustainability, also showed how writing can
encourage people to think about issues that affect their communities and the
world around them.
As Nightengale Awards continues to grow beyond its
original literary focus, the 37 participants remain an important part of its
story. They were the first group to take part in its live writing competition,
and their contributions helped lay the foundation for future seasons.
