FG declares October 1 public holiday

 


The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria's 64th Independence Day. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalene Ajani, on Saturday.

In the statement, Minister Tunji-Ojo acknowledged the resilience and patience of Nigerians as the country continues to navigate various challenges. He assured the public that their sacrifices towards building the nation would not be in vain and urged citizens to take this time to reflect on the efforts of the country’s founding heroes.

“The minister also reiterated the need for Nigerians to reflect on the labour of our heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead,” the statement noted. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that the vision of a better Nigeria could only be achieved through unity and collective effort.

He called on all Nigerians to remain steadfast and committed to nation-building, stressing that unity and hard work are essential for creating the Nigeria of their dreams.
